Mitsubishi Electric Announces Expansion of RedLINK™ Wireless Controller to Residential Product Line

Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division (Mitsubishi Electric), America's No. 1 selling brand of ductless cooling and heating technology, has expanded its offering of unique RedLINK® wireless controllers. These controllers are now available with Mitsubishi Electric's M-Series line of residential split-ductless and ducted cooling and heating systems. The RedLINK wireless controllers, previously available only with the light-commercial P-Series product line of split-ductless and ducted systems, now provide increased zoning and temperature control capabilities to the residential M-Series line.

The RedLINK wireless controller was introduced in 2011, and communicates through radio frequency instead of infrared waves or wires. This eliminates the need for electrical wires and enables the wireless controller(s) to be placed in a different room than the indoor units.

"RedLINK wireless controllers increase temperature control capabilities to maximize end-user comfort and reduce energy costs," says Mike Smith, senior product marketing manager, Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division. "This controller has been very popular in the light-commercial market, and we're excited to be able to extend its benefits to our residential products."

RedLINK controllers are compatible with the Honeywell RedLINK Internet Gateway, which allows users to control HVAC systems remotely through a Web browser, iPhone®, iPad®, Android® or any Internet- enabled smart device. Through RIG, users will gain access to the Total Connect® Comfort portal to download free apps that enable remote monitoring and access to the following system functions:

  • System on/off
  • Temperature set and on-screen temperature display
  • System mode System alerts
  • Outdoor temperature and humidity display (for systems equipped with the outdoor sensor feature)

The RedLINK controllers for M-Series are also compatible with the Portable Central Controller (PCC) accessory originally introduced with the P-Series models. The PCC wirelessly connects and operates up to 16 RedLINK controllers throughout the home. Homeowners can control the temperature of any RedLINK- operated system through one portable controller. The PCC also includes timer function, so homeowners can selectively cool and heat specific zones only as needed, saving money on energy bills.

The controller is compatible with a wide variety of Mitsubishi Electric systems including the exclusive Hyper-Heating INVERTER® (H2i®) systems, which function at temperatures as low as minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit, and with many systems that are ENERGY STAR® qualified. The controllers also operate all of the sophisticated control functions traditionally available in Mitsubishi Electric systems, including complete zone control, adjustable fan speed and adjustable vane positioning.
